A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommend while a high clearance vehicle is required on the uneven mountain road to drive up to the trailhead. Without a larger vehicle you can drive up to the Yellow Aster Butte trailhead and park along the side of the road and walk the 4 km to the Twin Lakes lot. Once on the trail follow signs and continue straight when you come to the High Pass junction. After roughly 1.5 km on the trail you will reach an unmarked junction, continue straight to stay on the main trail. Once you reach the top enjoy the 360 views of surrounding peaks.
